Art Express is a mobile art centre that
is a non – profit making organisation at present but will become a charity from
April 2013. We are passionate about spreading art to every corner of
society and believe that art is just
amazing fun and a great tool for communication. It can help in confidence and
in raising self –esteem. Art is a great way of relieving stress and can also
help with depression and illness. It is also a great way to meet friends by
bringing people together and to learn new skills such as drawing, painting,
printmaking, felt making, sculpture or anything that people would like to
learn.
I am a practising artist and qualified
secondary school art teacher and I set up Art Express three years ago to work
on projects in schools, with the homeless youth, the local youth club, elderly,
adults and people with learning difficulties. I have recently taken on a very
talented artist called Solly who is also passionate about Art Express and how
art changes lives. We believe there is
no right or wrong in art, good or bad and our vision is to spread art to
everyone. We are not art therapists but we truly see the value of art being
used in a therapeutic way.
We can offer a variety of creative
sessions tailored to people’s individual needs and passions. We provide all the
materials, set up and clear up, so people just turn up and have fun.
